So why did we become French Bulldog fanciers?

We have been involved with showing and breeding dogs since 1980. For us, it began with training and showing a Chinese Chow Chow to his championship. We learned the commitment it takes to compete in the show ring, to provide a healthy environment, and to support the breed standard. It was our honor to contribute time and energy as officers for the Mid-States Chow Chow Club, the oldest Chow Chow club in the United States. Our association with other “Chow Chow” fanciers gave us a chance to meet some very wonderful people. We no longer have Chow Chows.

Since it can take nearly three hours to prepare a Chow Chow for the show ring, we wanted something with less hair! After our champion Chow Chow passed in the early nineties, we attempted to show an English Bulldog. We found the personality of the English Bulldog to be very endearing. However, the English Bulldog comes in a package that was quite heavy to lift into the car. We loved the “Bully” personality, but wished they were smaller and less heavy.

After our English “Bully” passed we discovered the French Bulldog. We found the French Bulldog to be loyal, playful, intelligent, unique in appearance, and a size that is easy to live with. For us, the French Bulldog seemed to be the family companion we were looking for.

Because of Rose’s love for the Frenchies, she is involved with French Bulldog rescue and a member in good standing with the French Bulldog Club of America. We served as officers of the Great Lakes French Bulldog Club and, even though we moved from the midwest, Rose continues to be a member.

We are very proud of encouraging and mentoring an eight year old boy with showing his first show quality French Bulldog. Congratulations to Jake and Thriller on their super show career! Just after turning 9 years old, Jake completed Thriller’s AKC Championship! We are happy to help people with their show activities and are more than willing to brag along with you.
